Transform Your Space with This DIY Closet
Are you tired of cluttered and disorganised spaces? Want to add more storage and style to your home without breaking the bank? Look no further than this DIY project! Following this step-by-step guide, you can transform an ordinary IKEA PAX wardrobe frame into a custom-built masterpiece that perfectly fits your space and style. From choosing the right size and materials to assembling and finishing the shelves, we've got you covered. Get ready to create a beautiful and functional storage solution that will impress everyone who walks into your home. Let's get started!
Follow these steps:
- Assemble the PAX closets according to IKEA's instructions.
- Use tape to mark where you want the base/bottom stud wall to go (if you want baseboards around the frame, add them now).
- Make the base/bottom stud wall, then place the PAX frame on top of it and attach it to the wall according to IKEA's instructions.
- Make a stud wall above the PAX frame using MDF boards. Be sure to measure the depth of the PAX frame (35 cm or 58 cm) and drill the MDF boards accordingly.
- Attach the MDF boards to the stud wall and fill any gaps with putty.
- Cover the MDF boards with lining paper.
- Measure, cut, and glue crown moulding to the MDF and ceiling.
- Measure, cut, and glue a small moulding around 15 cm under the crown moulding.
- Measure, cut, and glue moulding around the PAX frame.
- Install the KOMPLEMENT interior as desired.
- Fill any holes in the PAX frame that you don't need with wood filler and sand with light sandpaper until the surface is even.
- Caulk around the moulding and baseboard.
- Clean the shelf until all dust disappears.
- Prime the shelf twice, allowing time for the primer to dry between coats.
- Paint the shelf once or twice with white paint.
