Wallpaper is an absolute game-changer when it comes to decorating a kid’s room! It instantly adds personality, color, and a fun vibe without needing to paint an entire wall.

We decided to give our little one’s room a fresh, playful look with a gorgeous wallpaper design, and the result is magical! The best part? It’s way easier than you think. With a little patience and the right steps, you can turn any plain wall into a masterpiece.

Here’s how we did it:

Materials You’ll Need:

  • Wallpaper of your choice
  • Wallpaper adhesive (if not pre-pasted)
  • Primer (for better adhesion)
  • Smoothing tool or wallpaper brush
  • Laser level or spirit level
  • Sharp utility knife or scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Sandpaper (if needed)
  • Filler (to fix wall imperfections)
  • Clean cloth or sponge

Step 1: Prep the Wall for a Flawless Finish

First things first, your wall needs to be smooth and clean. If there are any holes or imperfections, grab some filler and patch them up. Once that’s dry, sand it down to get a perfectly even surface. This step makes a huge difference in how your wallpaper will look!

Tip: A quick coat of primer helps the wallpaper stick better and last longer—totally worth it! We applied a thin layer and let it dry before moving on to the fun part.

Step 2: Get Ready to Wallpaper!

We went with the method of applying glue to both the wall and the back of the wallpaper. This helps everything stick well and avoids bubbles or peeling later on.

Step 3: Align the First String and keep on!

Starting straight is key! We used a laser level to position our first strip perfectly. This step sets the foundation for the rest, so take your time to get it right. Once the first strip was in place, we kept rolling (literally!). We carefully lined up each new strip, smoothing as we went to make sure everything matched up perfectly.

Step 4: Trim the Edges for a Clean Look

No one wants jagged edges! We used a sharp utility knife to trim off any excess wallpaper at the ceiling, baseboards, and around electrical outlets. It’s the little details that make all the difference!

Step 5: Let It Dry and Admire Your Work!

After all that hard work, it’s important to let the wallpaper set for 24 hours. Once it’s dry, step back and admire your brand-new, totally transformed space!
