Here is my first attempt at a vase makeover I did couple of months ago for my powder room project. I started with a basic vase I bought from a store🏺I can’t believe how this turned out.

There are many ways to bring the texture with baking soda, flour + paint, textured spray paints, plaster of Paris, air dry clay etc. Here is how I worked around it to give a perfect weathered look.

☞ Slap some joint compound on the flat Vase creating overlapping layers for extra depth. Let it dry completely

☞ I saw too much texture for my liking hence I had to sand a little bit to make it smoother or you can use a wet drywall sponge but make sure to keep all the highs and lows,

☞ Spray paint it with ultra matte black paint + primer in one.

☞ Smear some wet dirt, after it has dried give it a quick wipe

☞ Seal it with a matte clear sealer.

☞ You could leave it at this. In my case I repeated the process for atleast 7-9 times to achieve a 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 look. I wanted a dimensional look so I worked in layers. It made the vase feel incredibly authentic.

I used a piece of sharp stone to deliberately make a few grooves here and there while the joint compound was half dry so later when the dirt fills in…it feels like a found vessel.

That’s all…! Can’t wait wait to see your version :)
